Welcome back, everyone!

So here we are, one week into second semester. I don’t know about you, but I am pumped. Yes, I am one of those lovers of school and everything it encompasses. I love the early mornings, the coffee runs and the deadlines. Above all, I love being reunited with my classmates.

Sheridan’s campus looks different in the winter with its snow-covered walkways. Students rush inside to take cover from the cold, leaving the brightly coloured Muskoka chairs to sit empty until spring. But that’s not the only thing different about this term.

In our first week back, we reassessed the direction of our class project – our venture into social media.

The project now lives in our strategic communications course – so it only makes sense that we use strategic tactics to better cater to our audience.

First thing on the to-do list: change up our topical beats.

This semester will feature more attention-grabbing posts on public relations as we add entertainment and culture to the mix. Who doesn’t love to see how the latest celebrity scandal gets handled? Or how large corporations deal with those cringeworthy communications slip-ups?

We will also be expanding on the role of PR at Sheridan and the people who live it. Look for student profiles, as well as interviews with former grads who have gone on to have successful communications careers. (Feel free to drop us a line if you’ve got a story to tell!)
