Super Bowl 51 took place Sunday Feb. 5th, 2017 and, as per usual, everyone was excited. Even if you’re not a football fan, you may join in celebration for the party and the game day foods. Maybe you watch the game for the halftime show, or maybe for the commercials. Regardless of the reason, Super Bowl Sunday brings everyone together.

An unlikely celebrity made an appearance in the commercials this year: Justin Bieber. Partnered with T-Mobile, Justin starred in their commercial as a “celebration expert,” promoting T-Mobile’s #UnlimitedMoves campaign. Justin takes viewers through the history of celebration, including the shimmy, the shake and the shimmy-shimmy shake. I am not sure if it was the tux or his dance moves, but Biebs definitely scored a touchdown for T-Mobile.

This campaign showcases T-Mobile’s unlimited data plan. At the end of the commercial Justin demonstrates his best dance moves while exclaiming a call-to-action for viewers. “Post your moves now and I’m going to share my faves” states Bieber, encouraging the audience to post their moves to social media with the hashtag #UnlimitedMoves. Justin took this one-yard further for T-Mobile when he reactivated his Instagram account after his 22-week boycott of the social media platform.

Justin and T-Mobile have definitely hit this spot on. They were able to take a somewhat boring and common concept and release it to the public in a fun and active way. A quick glance of Justin’s Twitter account or a search of the hashtag shows just how responsive viewers were. On Justin’s Twitter page we also see a tweet from 2015, where he exclaims he wants a Super Bowl commercial.
